Introduction

This is HKAPA FTV TYP05 from year 3 students. My role in the production is Original Music. This story is about a young screenwriter and his grandmother watching his last film in the cinema.

Theme

The director told me that he wanted to use two musical instruments to express the identity of the character, so the role of the grandson is a acoustic guitar. The reason is that the sound of the guitar is young and has a bit of vicissitudes of life, which is very similar to that he went through a lot of experience to complete the script. work. Grandma used a clarinet because the sound of the clarinet is powerful and gentle, just like the love she has for her grandson.

In addition, I created the theme of the music, using a few notes as motivation to bring out emotions. For details, you can listen to the music below. Moreover, we all agreed that there is no need to add too much music to the film because we want to fovus on the emotions of the actors, and adding too much music may have the opposite effect. Therefore, I don't deliberately make the music complicated, but use simple melodies to carry it through.

What makes me excited is that I can participate in the sound mixing part! I am very happy to meet the sound engineer. It is a pleasure to work with her and the communication is very smooth. I also learned new things from her, such as how to use protools shortcut. In addition, I also gave her some sound design advice and learned from each other.
