Introduction

 

This is my HKAPA FTV Assignment 2, we were asked to do a chase shoot. My role in the production is Sound Recordist, Boom Operator, and Original Music. This story is about a couple whose true identities are killers and spies, but they don’t know each other’s identities, track each other, and kill the spy.

Production

 

In production, my role is Sound Recordist and Boom Operator. 

 

Challenge

 

This is my first time playing the role of sound recordist. On the first day of recording, I turned the monitor volume very high, but the recorded volume was very low. This is the problem I discovered when doing this role for the first time; that is, the monitoring volume must not be too high; otherwise, you may not even be able to hear the dialogue when recording. Therefore, in order to improve the problem, I reduced the monitoring volume by at least half the next day, thus improving the recorded volume problem.

 

Another problem is environmental noise. There are many music school students practicing musical instruments. In this Assignment 2, I learned how to communicate as a team, communicated with the production manager, asked him to help understand the situation, and thus solved the problem.

 

My other role is boom operator. This time it was more difficult than the last time because we were filming a chase, so when we lifted the boom, we had to follow the actor's movements, and we had to lift the boom very high, which was very physically demanding.

 

Post-Production

 

In Post-Production, my role is Original Music. Because of time constraints, it only took me one day to complete the music. It was a speed challenge. The music is mostly tense music. But one difficulty is that the director asked for a kind of happy and tense music. This is my new attempt.
